Welcome, Come Join Us!

Corte Madera Town Band

The Corte Madera Town Band is a volunteer organization made of folks with a passion for playing music. There are about 40 musicians from all walks of life, ranging from high school teens to 80+ years young, traveling from 17 communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. We love playing and practicing every Thursday evening from 7:15PM to 9:15PM. Our musical repertoire varies from the inspirational and melodic to just plain fun. We play classical concert band compositions, musicals, rock and roll, blues, jazz, marches and much more.  We come to practice with a smile and there are always a few laughs. We enjoy ourselves and the band and have made some life-long friends as well as some interesting acquaintances.

Our musical season runs from September through mid-July with approximately 10-13 performances throughout the year. Our performances include our Spring Concert, a Marin County Expo, the Golden Gate Band Festival, the Fourth of July Parade in CorteMadera/Larkspur (we don’t march), an Octoberfest, several outdoor concerts, and a holiday concert.

We support our local communities by inviting the local high school musicians to join us and by offering all our concerts free of charge. If you would like our band to perform for your community function, please contact us. The Band is honored to be supported by the Corte Madera Community Foundation and the Corte Madera Town Council and is embraced by many good friends and neighbors in the community. The Band is also a member of the Association of Concert Bands.

If you currently play a band instrument (or string bass), or played in high school or college, and you want to play with an enthusiastic, supportive group, we’d love to hear from you.

Corte Madera woman struck up the town band

Gwyn Lister had never seen so many bands in her life.

While watching, in awe, as one band after another performed in a St. Patrick’s Day parade in Chicago, the Corte Madera resident thought about how her town had yet to find a band to play in its Fourth of July parade.

She decided then and there she would start one. Once she returned home from her business trip — with the help of the town’s “movers and shakers” — the Corte Madera Town Band came to be. The band made its debut at the Larkspur-Corte Madera Fourth of July parade in 1996, and has not missed a parade since.
